The SPARK! Extension Creative Placemaking Toolkit provides 13 activities that extension professionals can use to integrate creative placemaking efforts in extension programming. The activities can be offered alone or in sequence with other activities shared in the toolkit as part of creative placemaking endeavors in communities.

Blueprint Kentucky in cooperative agreement with USDA Rural Development developed this toolkit to highlight the importance of placemaking in rural communities, as well as provide a comprehensive resource that will be regularly updated to feature new projects, activities and successes from rural America.

Federal leaders discussed expanding access to placemaking resources for people in rural America, providing local leaders with the opportunity to learn more about accessing resources that help create more livable communities.
USDA Rural Development entered into a cooperative agreement with CEDIK in 2022 to host the first ever Placemaking in Small & Rural Communities online conference. The 2022 Rural Placemaking Conference showcased effective placemaking strategies for rural areas, introduce attendees to placemaking resources and tools, and connect them to placemaking experts and potential funders.
