SPARK! Extension Toolkit for Creative Placemaking
The SPARK! Toolkit provides 13 activities extension professionals can use to integrate creative placemaking efforts in their programming. The activities can be offered alone or in sequence with other activities in the toolkit.

Community Arts Extension and 4-H are collaborating on a multi-year project to boost morale and place identity for youth across the state by designing and installing new murals at each of the 4-H Camps in Kentucky.

Natural Fabric Dyeing
Boone Community Arts has partnered with Horticulture to establish a dye garden with a variety of traditional plants used for natural dyes for exploration in safer and more sustainable art processes.

The Inspiration Series was created for those that wish to build their creative writing skills with new, fun activities and prompts each month.

Community Arts partners with 4-H to host activities for youth like watercolor painting.
Preschool Arts Day
Preschool Arts Day is a fun morning of learning for little ones, ages 3-5. Children enjoy games, stories, music, dance and more.
Youth Music Classes
Introducing youth to simple ballads and songwriting, rhythm and instrument petting zoo.
Summer Arts Day Camp
Four days of exploration in art, dance, theatre and music for 1st through 5th graders.
Ukulele Club
This club provides training with life skills, musicianship, leadership, communication and responsibility. All skill levels are welcome due to the mentor/mentee process. Age is not the determining factor for mentorship so club members of all ages can participate and share their knowledge and skill with each other. A long-term goal is to start a performing group.
Greenup County Farmers Market
The Greenup County Farmers Market is an all-encompassing shopping and event destination for the community. The market has now grown to over 40 vendor members that offer a variety of artisan-crafted handmade and homemade items along with fresh fruits, vegetables and value-added consumables.
Greenup Old Fashion Days
Greenup Old Fashion Days (OFD) is one of the longest-running community festivals in the state. Now in its 56th year, Greenup OFD spans three days and involves thousands of people through partnerships, performances, vendors, contests and special events. UK Community Arts is proud to serve on the planning committee.
Appalachian Symphony
This musical collective provides free music lessons and performance opportunities to people of all ages, backgrounds and skill levels. The program is completely free and increases music education access for people in low-income conditions, providing an atmosphere that welcomes all individuals.
Procreate: Digital Art Class Series
In 2023, Pike County Arts offered an introduction to a new art medium - digital art, using an app called Procreate.
Voices of Pike
Voices of Pike began in 2018 as an annual poetry contest meant to encourage Pike County's youth to express themselves through creative writing, to think critically about the world around them, and to inspire unity and progress. Each year, the contest centers a Kentuckian of note and uses a quote of theirs as the prompt.
Quilt Block Painting
Quilt block painting workshops acknowledge regional quilting heritage while building visual art and applied math skills.
Mudslingers Pottery Club
Community Arts partners with Family & Consumer Sciences to host and offer instruction for the Mudslingers Pottery Club.
Happy Chippers Woodworking Club
The Family & Consumer Sciences (formerly Homemakers) Woodworking Club, with assistance from Community Arts, offers instruction in routing, carving, wood burning and more.
Monthly Artist Exhibitions and Receptions
These events showcase artist talents, creating a rich and vibrant cultural experience for visitors. The exhibitions give artists the confidence to set new goals and challenges, helping to further develop their art and contribute to the thriving local arts scene.
Wood Carving Program
Whitley Community Arts collaborated with a passionate wood carving enthusiast to offer a comprehensive carving class that fosters a sense of community, cultural heritage and camaraderie among wood carving enthusiasts.
Art Journaling Club
Community Arts collaborates to offer monthly art journaling club meetings to boost skill development in creative writing and a variety of art media.
